Friday, November 2: Throwback featuring The City Life
...and now that they've slipped out of the shadows and firmly into the
New Orleans indie rock scene, The City Life is ready to turn their
teeth to the rest of the world and spread their namesake even farther.
With a hip, pop vibe that is surprisingly After the well received release of their first album ("What's That Sound?") in October of 2006, The City Life created quite a name for themselves in the vibrantly growing local indie rock scene, getting great reviews in local college publications and a feature article in Where Y' At? magazine's "Ones to Watch" section. Their success has brought them many things, such as 3rd place in the National M.E.I.S.A 2007 Battle of the Bands and a loyal following of Lifers (the band's nickname for their beloved fans) of all ages, with consistent crowds of 150-250 people ranging from ages 13-50. Now the band is again teaming up with their friend, advisor, and producer Dr. James "Jimbo" Walsh (The Bureaucrats, Wampum, The Malibu Dolfins, The Other Planets, Bubblebath) to create a more than worthy follow-up to their class act debut record. As the group progresses, the songs are rapidly maturing while staying true to the dark and dancy, gritty and groovy sound that makes people fall in love with this band. The material is written, ready, and better than ever, and this new venture will surely result in an album so good that CD players won't want to spit it out. With a Spring release on the agenda, The City Life is working hard and hoping the world is ready.
