Tuesday, August 28: Perry Farrell's Satellite Party

Perry Farrell Satellite Party at Republic New OrleansSatellite Party is an alternative rock band conceived by former Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros frontman Perry Farrell following the demise of his former band in 2004. Other members are lead guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, drummer Kevin Figueiredo and newcomer Carl Restivo on bass. Etty Lau Farrell completes the line-up as backing singer for the band.

The band's debut album entitled Ultra Payloaded was released on 29th May 2007, with contributions from artists such as John Frusciante and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, former Chili Pepper and Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons, electronic dance pioneers Hybrid (producers) and Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook. The group has been signed with Columbia Records, which is a part of Sony Records, since June 6, 2006.

The album includes a "lost song" titled "Woman in the Window" with vocals by the late Doors frontman Jim Morrison. The album itself was preceded by the single, "Wish Upon a Dog Star," under the collaboration with Hybrid's lead track off their I Choose Noise LP, "Dogstar."

The group made its debut appearance in Los Angeles at the Key Club on July 18, 2005. Tony Kanal of No Doubt filled in on bass and Steve Ferlazzo of DramaGods was on keyboards. This was followed by an additional performance at Lollapalooza 2005, held in Grant Park in downtown Chicago on July 24, 2005. The band took a break from touring in 2006 to work on their debut album, returning to the stage with a tour of America and Europe in early 2007.

The Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party: Perry Farrell at Republic New Orleans

"The Solutionists," are an elite group who
master the art of public assembly and demonstration.

Police intercept the location of one of their private parties
and "Insanity Rains".

Many of the party goers are arrested. The chief Solutionist, a musician, escapes after a being beaten.
He is taken by his compatriots to a downtown hospital.

A beautiful night nurse is assigned to his room.

Friends come to visit the musician in the hospital.
They bring him a care package that includes
dames, booze and a radio.

The Chief Solutionist called the night nurse into his room.
Looking up at the sky from out of the hospital window, he claims a cluster of stars was winking at him.
"There is a party up there," he said.
He names the place in the sky "Milky Avenue."

They fall asleep, lulled by the low humming radio.

Coming through the radio that night, was "A Vast Visitation Of Energy" - A voice from the Heavens, sending out an invitation.

Their souls transcend up high to "The Satellite Party."

At "The Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party,"
they are reborn, and re-adorned. People are sipping
sweet elixirs delivered by skater-waiters.

A grand entrance is made by a space
brother known as "Dog Star." He and his entourage
strut down a dance line in
soul-motion.

"The heavens, are a myriad of parties
sprawled out across deep space."

"In this delirium we float."

They have refined the essence of sexual
pleasure into fragrance.

With entourage in tow, they go and
visit the Heavenly Host; "Jim."

It was his voice that beckoned
to them through radio frequency.

He shows them a view of their own planet earth; from the vantage point of a satellite.

Jim points to the polar caps. He likes to
sculpt ice swans with his laser beam! "You realize
they are melting? You must do something."

"Just try and stop us; we're going to love!"

The two lovers go to the window and peer down.
The only word to describe it is "Awesome."

They feel an overwhelming passion to return to earth
and design a future together.

The sun starts coming up in their neighborhood.

Riding back upon the waterfall of sound waves, they
are drawn down and awaken in each others arms- under
the sheets of the hospital bed.

Hundreds of fresh new posters are plastered up on the
city walls. They read: "Just Try And Stop Us, We're
Going To Love!"

He still stares out of the window for long periods of
time- looking up at the stars. She asks him, "How are
you doing Tiger?" And he says "You’ve made my Hard Life
Easy."
