“Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its bobsled time!” Don’t miss the first-ever Cool Runnings Throwback featuring King Rey + Baby Bee this Friday February 3^rd at Republic New Orleans! Local indie rockes, King Rey and Baby Bee, will each perform originals and retro covers from 11-12, and then they’ll come together for a combined grand finale song! Afterwards, DJ G will spin the best 80s, 90s, and indie all night long! We’ll have “Cool Runnings” on the big screen and winter décor around the venue! Dress like a member of the Jamaican bobsled team, dress in Jamaican colors, or dress in snow attire; everyone in full costume gets a free drink ticket at the door! Plus, we’ll have a professional photographer take pictures of you and your friends in a bobsled in front of a winter backdrop! Enjoy $3 well drinks ‘til midnight and $2 “Gold Medal shots ” ($1 with Throwback slap bracelet) all night long! As always, enjoy $2 High Life, solve a Rubik’s Cube for a free drink, and play the free Throwback arcade with 40 retro games all night!

King Rey

King Rey is a five piece original band from New Orleans, LA. They spent the first year of their existence writing, playing shows, switching instruments, and converting their apartment into a make-shift studio space. The result was a 6 song EP called Street Friends. By 2011, King Rey had developed into a collective of musicians who were finally in a position to make the kind of music they had always wanted. King Rey paints their sound with primary colors, bending traditions and leaning on tropes. Every song is a collaborative effort, as each band member lends the song their own craft. The final product feels intentional and elegant, demanding attention while offering a familiar vulnerability. With a live performance emanating slithering melodies riding jungle moves, King Rey promises an enchanting comedy of errors.
